This beautiful girl was found on the streets, abandoned, unwanted, starving and nursing a litter. Her rescue angel fed her, earned her trust, located her 8 pups and brought them home. She found rescues to take a few pups each but nobody could take mama.
Honestly, we aren’t criticizing other rescues. It’s better to take some than none and everyone is critically full. Plus a timid black pit mix is about as tough as it gets to find a home for. Time went by, Tottsi gained weight and confidence, was good with dogs, cats and respectful children but remained cautious of strangers and unwanted.
Dogwood loves dogs of all sizes, shapes, breeds and mixes, but dogs like Tottsi often get little adoption interest and linger in our program for a long time, when we could rescue a dozen more adoptable dogs with the same time and resources. Still, we have to root for the underdog sometimes and we might even have a lead on a home for this sweet scared girl so we welcomed her with open arms. We will take applications until an adoption is finalized and she still needs to be spayed and fully vetted. She will never again be abandoned and unloved with a big litter to raise.
Tottsi is a young adult of maybe 50 pounds.
