Adoptable Small Prefers a home with no kids

Ten year old Kissy first came to us after the death of her person. She was morbidly obese at 28 pounds (double a healthy weight for her size), could barely walk and was in chronic pain from a torn cruciate. Her foster home did an amazing job of getting the weight off of her and she had surgery and was adopted into a loving home. Sadly, twice when being picked up or startled, Kissy snapped, the latest time breaking skin. No doubt this was a traumatic event for her adopter and Kissy was returned. She has been back in her foster home for the last ten days and is her usual sweet loving self.

We at Dogwood have a responsibility to keep the public safe, but we also don’t consider a minor bite unforgivable in an otherwise gentle dog. We know some of our seniors especially might have some aches and pains we aren’t aware of and it’s critical to go slow. We’d like to give Kissy another chance and hope to find a patient loving home for this sweet girl to live out her life. She’s overall quiet, sweet and easy, calm but playful and likes relaxing on the couch or going for walks. An adopter will need to go slow when waking her up or picking her up and we’d like an adult home just to be sure.
